Read This: Community Involvment Wanted! Habitats Environmental Show wants your help!

We realized that there are so many ecologically minded people who spend time in nature, that perhaps we could recruit you all into helping out on this upcoming awesome project!

Here's the premise for the Habitats Project:

Kricket, shireen, Jack, and Smitty are collaborating to create the “Habitats Project.” This is a multipart project for third to fifth grade students in Oregon. The project includes a classroom program and an interactive Habitats Show.

The students will learn about the effects of pollution on our environment, specifically addressing Pacific Northwest wildlife and their habitats.

Through education about recycling, reusing, and reclaiming the students are offered methods in which to reduce their footprint on the environment.

The classroom program includes presentations, discussions, and craft project time using items collected by students, community volunteers, and project organizers from Pacific Northwest habitats, homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

The project culminates in an interactive Habitats Show where the craft projects created in the classrooms are used as props in the show and may also be used by the student audience while viewing the show.

Here's how you can help, right now:

Next time you go out on a walk or bike ride in any Pacific Northwest natural habitat area like the woods, beach, mountains, desert, etc take a small sack with you and collect trash for us to use in our show!

We're looking for any metal, glass, or plastic items that are found in a Pacific Northwest natural environment and don't belong there. Yes, trash!

When we do the Habitats Project in Fall 2009 we'll be able to say that XYZ props were made from trash picked up at XYZ locations and it was "number" of pounds of trash, by "number" of volunteers

Want to know more about the Habitats Project, please visit our web page for more Trash Collection details, how to get the trash to us, and other ways to get involved!

**We are seeking third, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms, located in Oregon, to participate in the Habitats Program. Please contact us for more details!**

Please freely forward this request for participation to any groups, schools, organizations, or individuals located in the Pacific Northwest that might be interested in participating, sponsoring, or hosting this project. Thank you for your support! Word of mouth and community involvement is the key to success of this project.
