The Vox Ignis website (www.voxignis.com) began as an idea and set of projects inspired by BROF (Burning Ring Of Fire, at Yahoo). It's been in operation for about 14 months and we've had quite a bit of success, recognition, and participation. The initial problems we expected from various entities did not occur and we've had thousands of page views. So there's definately room in Burner virtual space for something like Vox.
The experiment will continue but Vox Ignis will be going OFFLINE (website closed) in a few days and will stay offline for about 10 months. It wouldn't be right to leave it online while all our efforts go into redesign... daily maintenance takes too much time and people need fresh info.
We're re-purposing the entire concept and Vox is being re-coded from the ground up. Our focus will become more precise with specific projects coming to the foreground, like the Big Burning Map and the Regional Burn Showcase. We're also going to reach into new areas with greater effort, like blogging and other Web 2.0 technologies that will benefit Burner web surfers. The international format will stay and we'll reach out even more into the global Burner scene.
So if your website has a link or two to Vox Ignis, please notify your webmaster that those links will be broken in a few days and need to be removed.
Vox Ignis isn't dead (not at all!), it's just going away for a little while. When it returns we think it will knock your socks off.
Thank you to EVERYONE who participated in so many ways, from content contributors and writers to section editors and coders. It is all greatly appreciated.
